1st Assistant Golf Professional

We are seeking a personable and service-driven 1st Assistant Golf Professional to support daily golf operations, deliver exceptional member experiences, and assist in all aspects of pro shop and on-course management. This role is ideal for a golf professional pursuing PGA certification and will thrive in a luxury, member-focused environment.

• Location: Wabeek Country Club 4000 Clubgate Dr. Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302.
• Schedule: 40-60 hours per week; weekends, holidays, as needed by Director.
• Benefits: Comprehensive health benefits + membership perks.
• Salary: $55,000 annually with bonus opportunities.
• Start Date: Immediate start available.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Golf Professional with daily golf operations, including merchandising, golf car management, and staff oversight.
• Provide members with guidance on golf policies, rules, and regulations.
• Conduct golf clinics, lessons, and junior golf programming.
• Maintain accurate handicap records and support the USGA handicap system.
• Operate the Pro Shop in the absence of senior leadership.
• Manage and maintain Pro Shop inventory, including physical counts and stock control.
• Oversee club repair operations, including tracking, documentation, and billing.
• Assist with tournament and event coordination, execution, and recordkeeping.
• Maintain accurate records of lesson schedules, fees, and tournament results.
• Perform starter and marshal duties as needed.
• Assist with daily opening and closing procedures of golf operations.
• Ensure the golf course is properly marked and ready for play.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional Pro Shop and club repair area.
• Stay informed on all upcoming club events and actively participate in staff meetings.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active pursuit of or completion of the PGA PGM Program preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in golf operations (Pro Shop, tournaments, or instruction).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with golf instruction and/or club fitting highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with golf software such as Golf Genius is a plus.
• High School Diploma or GED required; degree in business, hospitality, or golf management preferred.

Physical & Schedule Requirements

• Ability to work 40–60 hours per week.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Capable of standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks as needed.
