CFS Companies LLC is hiring directly for this position. This role is part of our internal team and is not a recruiting or staffing placement.
The CPA will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, supervising accounting work, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting financial consulting projects.
This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
* Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns
* Prepare Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 990, and related schedules
* Prepare multi-state tax returns when required
* Review returns prepared by staff before filing
* Ensure compliance with IRS and state tax regulations
* Respond to IRS and state notices
* Review the bookkeeping prepared by the staff
* Prepare adjusting journal entries
* Prepare financial statements
* Assist with year-end closing
* Ensure accuracy of QuickBooks records
* Assist with payroll reporting and reconciliations
* Answer client tax and accounting questions
* Guide tax planning
* Assist with business entity setup and elections
* Support real estate and investment clients
* Assist with financial analysis when needed
* Maintain client records securely
* Ensure all files meet firm standards
* Follow internal procedures
* Track work in Hubstaff / CRM / project system
* Maintain daily activity notes
* Communicate with the administrative staff
* Coordinate with tax preparers and bookkeepers
* Attend virtual meetings when required
* Provide status updates on assigned work
* CPA license preferred (active or eligible)
* EA or an experienced senior tax preparer may be considered
* Minimum 3 years of tax preparation experience
* Experience with business returns required
* Strong knowledge of IRS rules and regulations
* Experience with QuickBooks required
* Experience with Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar software preferred
* Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision
