Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Brooklyn, NY (On-Site)

$225,000 - $300,000

 

Position Overview

 

A growing technology company is seeking a hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its software development team while helping scale the company’s technology infrastructure for future growth. This role requires a leader with a strong software development background, proven people management experience, and the ability to build credibility with an established engineering team. The ideal candidate combines technical depth with strong communication skills and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

 

Requirements

 

• Strong background in software engineering and application development

• Experience leading and managing software development teams

• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop technical staff

• Experience overseeing project prioritization, delivery timelines, and team accountability

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Comfortable working closely with senior leadership

• Ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with leadership responsibilities

• Experience in high-growth, fast-paced organizations preferred

• Previous CTO, VP Engineering, Engineering Director, or Technical Lead experience preferred

 

Responsibilities

 

• Lead and manage the software development team

• Oversee workload allocation, project prioritization, and team performance

• Conduct regular one-on-ones and provide coaching to developers

• Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

• Develop a deep understanding of the company’s technology platform, systems, and codebase

• Oversee software development initiatives from planning through execution

• Support architectural decisions and long-term technology strategy

• Establish project timelines and ensure delivery commitments are met

• Coordinate across departments and external technology partners

• Improve development processes, communication, and scalability

• Serve as the primary technology leader responsible for team execution and results

 

Must-Haves

 

• Software development leadership experience

• Experience managing engineers or developers

• Strong technical background with ability to understand complex systems

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

• Ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams
