Job Description

Lead Narrative Designer (Global Overseas Casual Games)

Responsibilities

1. Spearhead the design of long-term narrative outlines and story arcs, crafting immersive narrative experiences tailored to the tastes and preferences of Western players;
2. Define character concepts, plot milestones, narrative gameplay mechanics, and quest integration aligned with the game's positioning. Continuously polish the in-game presentation to deliver high-quality story content;
3. Work closely with the development, art, and design teams to manage project milestones, provide timely feedback, and proactively resolve development bottlenecks;
4. Analyze player feedback, gameplay metrics, and global market trends to continuously optimize narrative content and pacing;
5. Formulate narrative design guidelines and pipelines; mentor and guide the narrative team to ensure a consistent tone, style, and high bar of quality across all content.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree or above. Degrees in Creative Writing, Screenwriting, Film/Literature, or related fields are highly preferred;
2. At least 5 years of experience in game narrative design, with proven experience as a Lead Writer or Narrative Lead preferred;
3. Must have shipped at least one mobile game; prior experience with casual games targeting the Western/global market is a strong plus;
4. Deep understanding of Western storytelling styles, pop culture, and tropes, with the ability to construct character dynamics and plot structures that resonate with Western audiences;
5. Outstanding world-building, character development, and dialogue-writing skills, with the ability to drive narrative planning from concept to execution independently;
6. Strong proficiency in English and Chinese (excellent reading and comprehension skills);
7. Passionate about and highly familiar with Western games, movies, and TV shows;
8. Proactive, highly responsible, and collaborative, with excellent communication and cross-team coordination skills.

Additional Information

- Job type: On-site full-time position in Shanghai;
- Work visa provided if needed;
- Working hours: Monday to Friday 10am-7pm (including one-hour break)
- Salary: 25k-50k RMB (depending on experience)
