Job Description

A hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa is seeking a junior-level Registered Nurse to join its inpatient nursing staff on the medical-surgical unit. This is a fully on-site, in-person position with no travel required. Please note that visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available for this role.

The Med Surg RN will deliver direct patient care on a medical-surgical unit, supporting a diverse patient population across a wide range of diagnoses and acuity levels. Core responsibilities follow standard medical-surgical nursing practice, including patient assessment, individualized care planning, medication administration, and ongoing collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. This is a solid opportunity for an early-career nurse to gain well-rounded clinical experience in a dynamic inpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a broad medical-surgical patient population
• Perform thorough patient assessments and identify evolving clinical needs
• Develop and implement individualized care plans across varying diagnoses and acuity levels
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated and effective patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation throughout each shift
• Uphold patient safety standards and follow established medical-surgical nursing protocols

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Iowa or a multistate license allowing practice in Iowa required
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support verification required
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter certification for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse required upon hire
