Job Description and Duties

Under general direction of the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) Gaming Application Support & Quality Management (GASQM) Manager (Information Technology Manager I), the Senior Software Test Specialist is responsible for defining and maintaining standards and processes for developing, integrating, testing and implementing new Information Technology (IT) solutions, as well as maintaining the existing IT solutions for the California State Lottery’s (Lottery) systems and applications. The incumbent leads the development and implementation of test plans, test scripts, test monitoring processes, and verification of comprehensive testing of gaming system applications. Work performed requires analysis and verification of complex interrelated and unrelated systems and applications processes which necessitates rigorous, specialized testing methods to ensure quality and reliability. The duties for this position are focused on the Business Technology Management, IT Project Management, System Engineering, and Software Engineering domains; however, work may be assigned in other domains as needed.

This position is headquartered at the Savramento Headquarters location and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

Working Conditions

Schedule : This position supports the Lottery during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the unit manager. Weekends, long and/or irregular hours, after-hours work, and holiday work may be required.

Travel : Statewide overnight travel may be required.

Other : This position may be required to carry a Lottery issued cell phone. This position may be required to be reachable outside of normal business hours .
