We are seeking an experienced Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Technician to support a key federal customer in Newport, RI.  This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional with experience supporting electronic security systems, low-voltage infrastructure, networking, and integrated security environments.

This position supports secure federal facilities protecting personnel, infrastructure, and sensitive information.

Position Overview
Under minimal supervision, the ESS Technician will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support integrated electronic security systems in secure federal environments.  This role is primarily focused on service, sustainment, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities rather than large-scale new construction installations.

The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, customer service experience, and technical aptitude across electronic security systems, low-voltage infrastructure, networking, and IT-connected security environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical support to install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HSPD-12 / FIPS 140-2 compliant electronic security systems (ESS)
  • Support and maintain IP-based security infrastructure including access control systems, video surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, servers, network-connected devices, and related hardware/software
  • Perform system programming, firmware/software updates, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and component replacement for ESS platforms
  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, electrical wiring, conduit, sensors, card readers, cameras, control panels, and associated devices
  • Review work orders, drawings, building plans, and technical documentation to determine installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting requirements
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues affecting ESS operations
  • Test backup batteries, circuits, sensors, and security system functionality to ensure operational readiness
  • Maintain accurate service records and clearly communicate troubleshooting actions and resolutions to customers and project teams
  • Safely transport equipment, use ladders/tools, and perform physical installation and maintenance activities as required

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance OR ability to obtain clearance up to the TS/SCI level
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the low-voltage, CCTV, access control, or electronic security industry
  • Experience troubleshooting IP-based electronic security systems and related infrastructure
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and within team environments

Work Environment

Work will be performed onsite at customer facilities in Newport, RI supporting mission-critical federal security environments.
