Resiliency Navigator
Reports To: President & CEO / Board of Directors
Position Summary
The Resilient Navigator serves as a community-based recovery and coordination specialist supporting Newtown residents and small businesses impacted by hurricanes and other disruptions. The Navigator provides direct case management, resource connection, follow-up support, and preparedness education to strengthen long-term community resilience.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct intake assessments with residents and small businesses.
· Provide one-on-one recovery navigation and resource referrals.
· Assist with applications for disaster relief, housing stabilization, workforce, and business support.
· Maintain case notes and tracking logs.
· Coordinate with nonprofit, public-sector, and faith-based partners.
· Facilitate community outreach and preparedness education.
· Participate in resilience planning and long-term recovery coordination.
· Submit monthly activity and outcome reports.
Deliverables
· Serve a defined number of residents and small businesses annually.
· Track referrals, outcomes, and follow-ups.
· Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
· Support partnership coordination meetings.
· Contribute to resilience and preparedness planning.
Qualifications
· Experience in community engagement, case management, or social services.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to navigate multiple service systems.
· Cultural competency and understanding of underserved communities.
· Basic data tracking and reporting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in disaster recovery or economic development.
· Existing relationships in the Newtown community.
· Familiarity with housing, workforce, or small business support systems.
Work Environment
This position requires in-person community engagement within the Newtown neighborhood, attendance at NBC month meetings, community meetings, and occasional evening or weekend events as needed. This is a remote position until location is available.
