Compensation: From $17 per hour, based on experience

Position SummaryAgata & Valentina, one of New York City’s premier Italian specialty food store is seeking an experienced Butcher to join the team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with fresh Meat, who values cleanliness and organization, and takes pride in delivering excellent service. If you have a passion for food and enjoy helping customers, we’d love to hear from you.Essential Skills and Duties

• Assisting customers with meat selection, preparation tips, packaging, and general inquiries.
• Restocking and rotating products to ensure freshness and compliance with expiration dates.
• Preparing and packaging meat items according to company standards.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
• Operating scales and following proper weights and measures procedures.
• Ensuring accurate and appealing product displays and signage.
• Receiving and inspecting incoming meat products for quality and freshness.
• Following all safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
• Supporting the department during holidays, special events, and peak hours.
• Providing prompt and courteous service, resolving customer concerns, and escalating issues to management as needed.

 

Qualifications and Experience

• Prior experience in meat and poultry handling or knife skills is preferred
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Basic math skills for weighing and measuring products
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends
• Reliable attendance and flexibility to cover shifts when needed.
